Here's an interesting statistic about electric push-bikes to add to lithium demand. The industry sold 77.1 million electric push-bikes in 2017, up 91% on the previous year - according to market researcher NPD Group Inc. Source: Bloomberg 21/6/2018
My take: With figures like that it would seem that the traditional leg powered bike is all but dead and buried. And I wouldn't be too quick to discount the volume of lithium used to push a bike and its passenger 70 miles (the current range of new E-bikes) when the industry is selling over 77 million E-bikes per year. That's a lot of bikes and a lot of lithium.
Did Morgan Stanley factor in the production and sale of 77 million electric bikes per year in to their lithium demand equation? I think not.
