    Rob, you can't apply the last seven days "worst case" capacity factors for current wind and solar to a future system that would be more diversified and interconnected. You need to address whether it is reasonable or not for a future system with more diversified wind sources than currently, to be able to provide a minimum of about 20% of it's wind capacity - as indicted in posts above - OR to make that up with battery or other storage, such as hydro. On a bad day.

    We agree the study is a good study, but that, plus the numbers we've done on this thread, indicate a reliable fully renewable system is certainly possible.

    And meantime, you can go full steam ahead with whatever level of fossil fuel back-up you feel the need to retain.
