http://www.cnn.com/HEALTH/library/HO/00033.html ========================================= I've had to watch it take a few people around me--not least of which was Steves mum--it's not pleasant to watch--I can tell you that--must depend on what soret of cancer you have--in my mums case her lungs gradually filled up with water--all they do in pallative care--is make the person feel as comfortable as they can---they drain the fluid--but then it fills up again (at least in my mums case it did.)--they stoke you up on morphine to get rid of the pain--gradually you just suffocate to death. It is not a very nice thing eiother to experience or to watch. Thankfully all sorts of new cures for a range of things saves a lot of people--it is just simply an awful disease. In my own mums case--I got the doctor to increase the morphine dose--cause I could see she was in pain--I was told that would shorten her life by a couple of hours or so--I said go ahead and do it.
