To do business in China you must set up a JV with a local company and hand over your tech which they generally take and use for their own purposes. This is why Merc and other car companies will setup battery manufacturing outside of China for all models sold elsewhere around the world. When EV really picks up the batteries in China will be 5 years behind the rest of the world.
German manufactured Mercs with SKI batteries may not be sold in China, however, the rest of the free markets of the world will put the cash on the table!
