Its not hard to value a home like some here suggest.
Firstly, the mba has published figures on the cost of a build per sqr issued regularly. Presently its around $1,050 per sqr for an average single level home.
So a 25 sqr home would cost you $260k or so (Eastern States). Add the land value and allow 2.5% depreciation pa for an existing dwelling.
Take the emotion out of it and its quite easy to value a home.
Ofcourse, others may prefer an income stream/rental return approach using their desired IRR threshold.
Right now there are plenty of over priced homes out there on the market, along with many underpriced ones aswell.
