It's a separate argument Chuck. The fact is the roles of men and women were the same is all human cultures and societies that we know of. Man was provider and protector, woman and nurturer and tended to the dwelling.
The poster I replied to makes it sound like it was all some grand conspiracy to subjugate woman. The fact is pre-WWII in most societies and countries, even western ones, life was basically a massive struggle for the majority of people, families did what ever they could to survive and bring up large families - 5, 6, 7 children was quite common - husband and wife did their roles and worked as a team to survive and raise their families.
In modern times life has got some what easier, not all our men need to go to war, technology has taken care of some housework time so women are focused on getting a fairer share of the work/provider side of things - with jobs that are a bit more glamorous than they were traditionally (but not always so - men still do most of the dirty jobs - garbos etc,).
But to only look at men having and advantage and subjugating women by viewing the "provider" role or what we now consider work/career, and to completely ignore the massive sacrifice and disadvantage men traditionally had of being sent of to get killed in wars every generation or so is to only look at one side of the coin of what the traditional role of man in society was.
