Debono...
"For some to profit, some must lose and those that profit more also take from those that profit less...it is the nature of the game."
Not so...study many risers, such as FMG, PDN, SRK...even the biggies like BHP, RIO, etc.
Many have been able to buy, make profits, then sell out, leaving something for the next guy...who also bought and have able to sell out for profit.
Many of course bought and are still holding.
There will always be a top in every stock, where buyers are forced to watch their buys go backwards...if the right stock however, this will eventually correct and they too can watch on as their buys become profitable.
The only real losers in the market are those who's expectations are not met buy the stocks they buy.
Whilst a company continues to grow, be it via capital appreciation or indeed increases in dividends returned to holders, it really is possible for everyone to win.
Quality small caps, possibly more than other stocks, offer such an opportunity given the typically transitional nature of their value models, more often than not from very low bases.
Of course, the small cap end of the spectrum is heavily over represented with poor management, or simply business models focussed on mining shareholders rather than creating value via growth.
Not all failures of course are based on such sinister intent...many decent efforts come undone for all sorts of reasons...dry wells, few discoveries, changing market con distions, etc...such is the nature of speculating.
Anyway, the whole concept that everyone can be a winner is the basis on wich I typically invest/trade, with a focus on an early entry, holding during the initial value transition phase, then reducing to a smaller long-term core holding once this reaches it's natural conclusion in order to maintain exposure during the growth phase, which, whilst still attractive, is typically more gradual...but also much more stable than the high return, hughg risk transitional phase.
No need to prey on each other...we can all make money together.
Cheers!
