The challenge here in interpreting these sorts of announcements is that IoT is a buzz word that telco companies want to be associated with, irrespective of future actual revenues / growth. It's a field still finding its way.
Not trying to bag the announcement, but IoT is as much a PR exercise as a possible future revenue stream for telcos.
Great story here though, followed for a while. Seems like the sort of play better suited to VC money by people with the right industry contacts to make it go kaboom.
