We have a tenancy of attacking those below us on the socio-economic ladder rathet than those above us. I guess that makes sense
given that we all aspire to be up there. But from a mcro-economic perspective we ought to look at the country from the top down.
It may seem unfair for some to game the welfare system but we seem to turn a blind eye on those who rake in $billions and pay little or no tax. For example, since the GFC the $billionaires have quadrupled their wealth while those working hard have striven
hard to maintain the status quo with some going backwards.
The Taxpayer pays about $47 Billion a year to maintain a so called Defence force and the associated DVA which could be diverted into nation building projects which would make all citizens wealthy.
The recently initiated Trade War by Trump should be an eye opener for Australia. 40% of our economy is China dependant and
even at this early stage , Trump's shenanigans are starting to impact on us as evidenced by the drop in the AUD.
We need nation building projects like:
-world class steel making
-world class aluminium casting and machining
-world class agribusinesses
-world class jewellery industry
-world class fisheries and fish processing
-world class bulk shipping industry
-world class commodities' futures market to rival Chicago .
-etc
-etc.
We have just spent $50 billion on a silly NBN which will be obsolete within a decade rather than spending this money
on connection Qld coalfields with the Pilbarra's mountains of Iron Ore with a norhern trans-Australia railway, thereby enabling us to be the world's leader in steel production.
Instead we have flogged anything worth 2 bob to foreigners and then whinge about welfare and crooks gaming the system.
We rely on multinationals to develop our country but in return we get transfer pricing, debt loading & cash-boxing overseas
and the average Aussie has to pay through the nose for the necessities of life.
