So what you are saying is that its fine for individuals to defame companies without any recourse but individuals don't have true freedom of speech because it may offend someone (another natural person). It seems the only free speech we will allow is if its against the bad capitalistic corporations. Really left-wing thinking - essentially the person making these claims can be lying and cause loss to a variety of shareholders and even stakeholders but well that's okay because all companies are bad. The Royal Commission has proven one thing to me - That the Ombudsman hasn't actually been doing its job - I expect Companies to look after themselves and most will do that with a singular motive, however, I also expected that the fair play process was also governed by the Ombudsman and I expected them to reign in the Banks or any company for that matter.

Wow - be careful what you wish for - I lived in a country like that and in fact, the people with very deep pockets was the government who could oppress anyone because the laws meant to protect had become a weapon. What we actually need is a much more powerful and effective Fair Trade / Oversight bodies that make sure these things don't happen. We actually have them they are just useless in my opinion. I have contacted ASIC personally a few times - all you ever get back is "don't call us we will contact you if necessary" I have never contacted the Financial services ombudsman but really at the RC -I was not impressed at all.
