Half the trouble is our Govt was committed to dealing with the US as far as weaponry goes.
So we get refurbished helicopters, Super(?) Hornets, non-performing submarines, etc at horrendous US prices.
I'm not suggesting we buy Migs, but there are European jets (Eurofighter), helicopters (French), submarines (German), that perform well at a fraction of the cost of the US junk, sorry, JUNK that has been forced on us. In a previous post I mentioned that the wing sections for our last purchase of re-vamped & overhauled F-111's came from their desert junkyard. That is admitted & on record. We paid top dollars for those aircraft.
Is our current Govt. going to continue the trend? Or are they going to look after Australia and the taxpayers?
