picastoc - Zero gets that way sometimes - give him a bit of space - he's also got a cute dog from what I remember from his past postings - a little one - so he will like that video.

I like it too, will send it to youngest daughter who now has dog instead of child - all good - the dog is a mini schnauzer, clever and highly entertaining.

I honestly can't see what all the fuss is about, have been using my own bags for a long time now, but had the odd memory lapse. The lining of my indoor bin is a bit complex, but I separate anything leaky from what goes in that bin - use old newspapers (mostly the local ones) for that. The small bin on the counter for vegetable peelings etc. now gets lined with a bit of kitchen paper - I should really compost all that stuff, but not much into gardening, except for cleaning up 'the bush' - sometimes I put out food remains for my resident bandicoot - probably plural now!

Whilst I stayed at my friend's flat in Europe in 1915/16 I bought myself what you call a 'jeep' still had to drag it up some 90 steps - and I am not the youngest. They are very handy.

My sister-in-law - now 84 - living in Switzerland - lives in a 'home' has the best room but is now on a Zimmer frame, even indoors. She proudly told me she goes 'shopping' at times and explained she takes a taxi to the shops, does her shopping in her mobile device, stashes it in same and then rides back. I had a laugh - but immediately went out for a walk to keep fit ...... but it is amazing how people adapt to all sorts of situations.

I must say, until I had to look after a house completely, that is look after its maintenance, the regular trips to the rubbish tip - all the stuff my husband used to do - I had no idea how a rubbish tip functions - I know a lot more about it, have a lot more respect for the people who look after our rubbish - and have made it my business to be informed.
What I have realised is that everything gets dug into the soil and many housing developments are on former rubbish tips. That alone should give us a hint that we can't go on using throwaway items on a daily basis and presenting a full bin for collection on a weekly basis. We all now know that even the content of the collection bins some supermarkets have for plastic bags finish up being dug in, if not sent overseas and God-Knows what they do with it.

We need to be responsible for our own rubbish.
