Very interesting. If I had enough money I'd set up a bucket shop. Every major brokerage must run in a similar way. Not to say that they will always win. As a brokerage they must think why not put the trade into a bucket (ie they take the opposite side) and give it back when the time is right. The trick is to tell when to give it back. Which reminds me of a nursery rhyme I once knew, it goes: There's a hole in my bucket, dear leila, dear leila!
This is the reason a casino never lets someone double up more than 8 times on roulette. That way the punter will always get caught out and eventually lose (ie lose 8 times in a row). The same applies to bucket shops. Which reminds me of a nursery rhyme .....
