As a buy-in price for an exclusive seat at the table (a table at which the prize could be measured in hundreds of millions, indeed billions, of dollars), $20m seems to me to be a decidedly light-on figure for exclusive access to such a potentially-valuable programe.
In the context of up-front payments for other deals undertaken in the biotech space, it is objectively a light-on figure.
PS. The extra $35m to which you refer is no ex-gratia payment; Tasly get a fistful of MSB shares for that, so it is not an up-front consideration at all.
