I would like to see a share buyback or at least a statement saying they may do a buyback, rather than a dividend.
It's not hard to go through the top shorted shares and find quite a few that do pay a dividend.
Haven't looked into it but I would be surprised if there are shares in the top 30 shorted that are currently going through a buyback.
I think dividend payments are too predictable and don't bother the shorters. I think the best way to go is put out the statement that says that we "may" do a buyback. seems to scare them off too unpredictable. I don't know why more companies don't do it.
Buyback then dividend probably the way to go, more cash for those that are still holding.
