The hope, though, dave, is that most of these menial and odious jobs be made easier or eliminated altogether by some highly skilled and imaginative people. We no longer dig the foundations of a multi-story building with tin shovels and picks and we don't have dunny refuge carts roaming the streets; many of our dangerous industrial jobs have also been eliminated. With the passing of time and with good education that stimulates the imagination rather than constrict it by fascist dogma shufflers, we may hope that the end of the menial task is not too far away. Politics, of course and the hunger for power, will delay this.
