First up and because of what I say has happened, I don't expect you to just swallow every thing I say as IMO these days that is risky.
As I see it, what I call the first milk is an absolute must or you will NOT get the Holy Spirit to help counter our good and evil which IMO the Bible says we got. The first milk IMO is who are God and Jesus.
IMO to suggest he pre-existed is to create another Jesus, which is still denying he came in the flesh and you have given him another Spirit.
So from what I see and as sad as it sounds, most have not got these basics and that was lost nearly 2,000 years ago.
Yes I can imagine that may appear to hard to swallow for many, but I have been repeatedly doing some simple testing and the same results, over and over and yes it bothers me, hence I get a bit aggro with some at times, but I dislike lies.
Sad part, it appears they have no idea that they are following lies and that has become screamingly obvious as well, from simple tests.
He is from the seed of God as God's word is Seed, so Gods Spirit/Word is what made it possible.
Jesus was also to be our example = impossible to follow if he was some super pre-existence and supposedly emptied himself.
This emptied is, He had the Spirit/Word (God basically) dwelling in him without measure (huge) naturally he would appear God like, but where this verse is mentioned, one needs to look at the lead in as it's talking about or more like, come down off your high horse, lower yourself down to the least of them.
Jesus even gives and example and washes some peoples feet, hence he humbled himself, emptied himself in this regard.
How Jesus did all things = Acts 2:22, twas God through, for the sake of, because of Jesus just as we are for Jesus, so yes God has high regard for him, irrespective as the whether he was a man, so like wise, monkey see monkey do (me), as Rev says, they follow the Lamb wherever he goes.

Some of the things you appear to get concerned about back towards Gen, do you really need to know? (Does it distract us, is another setting these seeds?).
IMO, if you grasp and get the first milk, the Comforter comes into it, no question about it, follow the lead, let the doors open.
But you need those first basics, then you will ID the opposition in a flash, your on The Rock and solid and guess who is holding you, got your back?

I expect we would have known the year of the end, note -Jesus only says, day and hour knows no man = very precise, nothing about years, weeks or month?
To suggest man will progress past the true 6,000 year period before the last day, 1,000 years begins in nuts, God's numbers and times are "never" out of wack and I say never.
If the Tribulation is 7 yrs, I would not be surprised if we are in the 5,993 year.

I read somewhere it makes reference to another 75 Books, just for the early part of the Bible?

The image IMO is the Spirit only into a Body -->Breath --> living Soul and we know the Spirit thinks according to the Bible.
So does our Spirit/Soul develop together, like copy/pasts?
We have some in Rev asking God how much longer before our deaths be revenged, told a little while longer = their not in their bodies as they have not been raised.
We are told the soul knows nothing when it dies, but it's going to be raised? (What for?). haha, logic kicks in here IMO.

So really even though we have bodies, it's really a spirit world and a war of words, good verses evil in our minds and if you hold that thought for EVERY Bible passage regardless as to how it's written as in the areas you mentioned, THAT is the key your looking for, that message good verse evil.
Remember mountains coming down or moving mountains can be referring to mountains of bull dust peoples.
People have missed the extent of what God's Word represents as well, by the look of it.

Books need Words, Moses and Co are in our Bibles and we are in Books, we are Words but we are many and I am an Australian Cooee!

In the OT (et = Aleph Tav) = Word from what I see and we have the likes of Word Aron, Word Sarah and on and on it goes.
Gen 1:1 Beginning created God Word --> Heavens and Earth (7 words, his seal).
We have WORD LORD GOD as well.

Listen to Jesus, if you want the come into or see the Kingdom, become and this Child and let us read the Books together --> Once upon a time there was a pack of lies hahaha and God after he beat the words up in the (Tribulation), He wiped away their tears.
They then after the Tribulation and not before, wash their robes = they did not have truth going into the Tribulation.

This is where I start to struggle.

By “first milk” I assume you mean “basic understanding”.

Well, I imagine God is a spiritual entity of some sort from a higher dimensional universe, and since he’s not one of us, I guess I’d have to think of him as an “extra-terrestrial”, but I have no idea what he looks like.

I don’t really understand all that, but I believe John 1:1 is where the trinity concept comes from and I know you’ve hammered that before, so maybe we shouldn’t go there again.

If it were not for the phrase, “and the Word was God”, it would make a lot more sense!

What works for me is that in the beginning, or at the start of everything, was God and his son, the "preincarnate Jesus" who is to become the mouthpiece or speaker for God when he incarnates down here as human Jesus, hence his name “the Word”.

I wonder what IBM’s super computer “Watson” would come up with if it was tasked with rewriting the Bible so that it all made sense ... or would it self-destruct trying?

Just for interest, the Nephilim were the giant bullies and tyrants who filled the earth with violence and are mentioned in Genesis 6:1-4 and Numbers 13:32-33 and were the offspring of some naughty angels who took a fancy to some of Adam’s beautiful daughters, and were the reason for the Deluge.

Enoch was the great-grandfather of Noah and is mentioned in Genesis 5:18-24. The Book of Enoch was considered scripture by many early Christians, but it and many other books became discredited after the Council of Laodicea, and being under ban of the authorities, afterwards it gradually passed out of circulation.

So much manipulation and censorship of the old texts ... I can’t help but wonder why ... and how much faith we should place on what they’ve fed to us.
