Thanks for the balanced discussion and thoughts. For the reasons Newfish has pointed out, I'm optimistic about further positive announcements over the next few weeks / months (fish fingers crossed).
As far as how well farm fish would be accepted by the market - my guess is that like anything new, there would be hesistation in the market. However, if I can use the prawn analogy, the last time I bought prawns I selected the best looking and flavour which were Queensland farmed prawns - ie. I think the quality of the product itself will be the final determining factor so I'm not too worried about this aspect.
A few more questions to stir into the think tank:
It looks like CSS will have the monopoly on SBT and I'm thinking this might put just a high a price on the 'intellectual property' as the SBT itself - particularly as the wild catch gets plundered... Assuming that CSS have a few years of development on the competitors (and there is no rat in the CSS ranks), I would think that the commercial monopoly would be secure in the short to medium term, and production would only be limited by infrastructure provision, which may see another fundraising by the company?? Also, could CSS be in a position at some later time for something like royalties (??) by collaborating with other players in fish production rather than waiting for hostile competition??
The other thought I had is would it be beneficial/feasible to take expand the operations to Japan itself??
Thanks for your feedback
