watso, "the world would be a better place without religion"
Are you just mindlessly repeating something you heard or have you given it serious thought. Taking into account the nature of people, religion couldn't be abandoned without some other belief replacing it. Obviously for a great number of people religion is central to their lives and gives them something to hold onto. Perhaps to justify your opinion you might like to elaborate on what would replace religion in both the lives of individuals and of a society, and whether in fact it would be a better world. It is one thing to be a non believer in a society that does follow one faith or another, but if all those values and beliefs that underpin that society, and you perhaps take for granted, were not there it is likely to be completely different one, and more than likely a lesser one.
