I was trying to gain some context on how someone would have this kind of insight i.e. what position they are ascertaining this confidence from, in particular whether it's a gut feeling or not. If I said this next cardiac surgery was going to be successful it would be reasonable to ask how many cardiac surgeries I had previously performed, the answer is none.
I guess that it was somehow highly offensive to ask whether someone is successful in business.
