The nature of most of on-line traders as seen on HC is such that they expect a short-term profit and fast. I have been through the mill here on similar resources stocks. One of my holds pre-GFC was PDN - Uranium was going to be the big thing, PDN had it all, home and hosed, an experience CEO who had all the plans of previous explorations etc. - knew his stuff, and so on. I bought in at first cheaply then at an increasing price, because it was going to happen now etc. Eventually the crash came - the rest is history, I sold out, cheaply, lost money, but PDN survived and is still a valid company. But the large increase in share price never happened.

Similar with LYC - I bought into the story because Lithium was THE metal of the future and the resource was in Western Australia in one wonderful deposit etc. etc. then a plant was being built in Malaysia - it was built with much local protesting going on in Malaysia - even in Western an Australian Greenie weighed into the argument saying that shipments via Fremantle would put us at risk from the supposed radioactivity of the mineral as it was being transported into the Port for shipping etc.
... and the argument ran 'the world can't do without lithium - batteries, etc.' well the share price has just about come back to what I bought it at 9 years ago - have long since sold at a heavy loss.

Aaah; both threads had one particularly ardent supporter here on Hotcopper who posted long-winded, well argued posts almost daily as to why this particular company had to be a win-win - and fairly soon, too. I fell for them. They have since gone a lot more quiet, moved onto other stocks, still posting on them in their usual exuberant style.

Was it a lesson for me? Yes it was, however, here on CLQ we have a huge fan, who posts regularly and very persuasively and the reason I am posting above cautionary tale is that you should only ever look to your own reasons for owning a stock and ask yourself if you are prepared to hold onto it for the long term, unless you are a short-term trader and have traded the stock many times and thus made your money already. The stock market, particularly in non-producing resource stocks is very fickle and you can lose your money very quickly. Don't listen to those who may want to 'wish-up' the stock for reasons of their own; just analyse your own reasons for holding, check out the market, read all the announcements and if you still want to hang onto the stock, do so - for your very own reasons. But patience is what is needed, not short-term pep talk.
