PE ratios are certainly higher in North America than Australia. I think the sorts of numbers being mentioned in the earlier posts are about right (about double those here for the mining companies).
HOWEVER, the key thing for promoting a stock in North America is "blue sky" upside. That is, potential new mines, potential new discoveries. Some of the promoters can push a stock to amazing heights, and I like the potential of the AVL story.
With potential new mines, and additional copper zones around the current mine, and large acreage in highly prospective ground, in my opinion there is a lot more upside than one would generate purely based on PE fundamentals....particularly if copper prices keep cooking - which I expect they will.
...it is also nice to see RBK bubbling away to new highs. If RBK can achieve that, then I think AVL will go much higher.
