In all fairness to the book that I first mentioned, the conclusion that i originally withdrew was from a general plot showing grades vs (geological continuity and homogeneity) for various minerals and ores.

Later in the text, under the heading alluvial mining, the author does go into detain explaining like others on this that alluvial deposits can be quite large depending on how they were formed, but are likely to be extremely erratic in their grades.

Ran into a geo by coincidence from st barbara yesterday and he basically said with alluvial mining you really wont know what you have until after you move into production.
