B.O.E. is mainly used by disreputable companies which are attempting to obscure their actual performance and/or impress naïve prospective investors .

The conversion is based on the energy content equivalency , not of economic value equivalency .

Whenever I get the chance I ask directors of companies why they persist in talking B.O.E. rather than barrels and mcf . They can't provide a decent reply to that because basically there isn't one .

Lets hope AJL stick to expressing methane , oil , other liquids separately rather than start using woolly expressions like B.O.E.
