do what i do - just turn it off!! thats what i do when i go to bed at night and if i turn it on in the morning, switch it off again when i head to work.
truth is - and any bloke who knows his softward and hardware will know this, the windows operating system is not designed to run constantly days on end. win98 optimum time was about 72 hrs, XS roughly similar. I think Vista is supposed to be longer but i'm not sure.
So not in the least bit surprising you had problems with the pooter having left it on for 7 weeks while u were away - would actually expect problems!!
