    Hi Scarpa

You’re a cracker contributor to HC’s “Political Debate” threads, much of it original thinking and well crafted ... thank you.

We differ in our political leanings but I feel we’re are not poles apart in our thinking.

There is much of your content that resonates.

Regional decentralisation particularly throughout SE Australia and regional development particularly throughout northern Australia could do wonders for rural Australia and all Australians imo.

You know I am a fan of a VFT project linking Melbourne and Sydney and with time extending perhaps to Brisbane.

It is NOT about fast trains per se, it IS about the transformative infrastructure such a project enables.

Imo, a VFT is the enabler and initiative to drought proof much of rural SE Australia ... up to 8 new green fields regional cities harvesting potable and otherwise reusable stormwater runoff, supplying local market gardening and horticultural activities around multi-use constructed wetlands ... a pipeline connecting desal plants in Syd and Mel and storage reservoirs between to optimise storage within a region of notorious temporal and spatial rainfall variance.

As you lament, it’s a long term vision thing.

    Cheers
    Dex
