Cheaper energy and transportation prices helped keep overall consumer prices in check in February, the Labor Department said on Friday, a surprise after a period of run-ups that had heightened concern about inflation.

Now, as to what really happened:-



Hmmm...maybe it was heating oil going down so much which pulled the energy component back (after all, it's been so warm in the US, hasn't it?):-



So, if real world prices rose during February, but the Labour Department said they fell...well, I guess the Labour Department are either incompetent or liars.
