Well, there is no way of understanding it beyond the idea that Husar and Murnain are from the same sub-faction of the right, Center Unity. Same as in Victoria with Somyurek and Garrett.

Karen McKeown OAM has been after either Penrith as a State Seat (held by the partner of the Federal Defense Minister, Marise Payne) or Lindsay (held by Emma Husar).

McKeown would have her political will met if Husar was gone and if Murnain was gone, Karen would become a factional legend.

Much like what Adem Somyurek is doing for Jane Garrett MP (ex Minister and soon to be exMP) in Victoria against Premier Andrews. Her husband, James Higgins, is a Partner at Slater and Gordon.

If Garrett is not found a safe Labor seat, there may be more trouble before November. Slater and Gordon might have some ammunition. The Andrews Government has been quite good for Maurice Blackburn lawyers whilst Slater and Gordon has seen its SP collapse, it’s client base fall and there would be no better reckoning in the lead to a State and Federal Election.

How can Peter Anderson’s son, Adem Somyurek and Jane Garrett lose?

How can Emma Husar, Karla Murnain and Daniel Andrews/ Bill Shorten win? At least in the long term? Would not a short term win for any of them be a Pyrrhic victory?

Next two elections in Victoria, State and Federal are a Hobson’s Choice if you are a factional ALP member.

It will make President Trump and the Republican Party seems coherent and collegiate IMHO.
