There still no cost effective way to produce the hydrogen. If electricity is used to break the H2 and O molecules in water it's more cost effective to use it to charge batteries. If in the future a catalyst is found to enhance this molecular separation then it will be viable.
The no pollution benefits of H2 energy will never out weigh the cost of production side of the equation imo.
