Maybe not all workers Dave but conditions are a lot tougher.
Generally hotter with no walk offs if it gets to 36.
No where near the sophistication in tools. Much more manual labour therefore harder work.
Longer hours also...no 7 1/2 hour days.
All in all I would say they work a lot harder for their lot less money, although there is no doubt many exceptions.
