Centro to narrow field of suitors

Centro Properties Group is understood to be preparing to receive its first round of offers this week, The Australian Financial Review reports.

Sources close to Centro, which needs to either find new equity through an investor or an outright sale, told the paper that the company is optimistic that a deal will be reached.

Macquarie Group is said to have not been ruled out as a possible buyer or investor, the paper reports.

Industry sources suggested that Blackstone Group, despite its less-than-solid fourth quarter results, may consider investing in the troubled group or buying some of its assets, the paper reports.
