Share prices swing wildly so you have to have faith in your own assessments. Don't be dragged by the crowd. You should only find yourself running with the crowd by coincidence not from fear.
The current drop is purely out of fear that the recapitalisation will fail because noone has the cash or the confidence to invest in or because the banks won't extend. Both of those outcomes defy logic.
The problems in the capital markets have nothing to do with Centro at a fundamental level. Bear Stearns failing has nothing to do with Centro. Both have everything to do with the smartest in the room, masters of universe and their bags full of dodgy derivatives: securitised residential mortgages.
To hell with Bear Stearns and Lehman brothers. They deserve to go bankrupt. The US finance markets can do without them and you will find that the US economy is extremely resilient and is incredibly diverse. There is plenty of cash in the system and plenty of players with huge reserves. The companies that actually create wealth are doing great and the underlying economy is fine.
If you are a true believer steel yourself for further falls, grit your teeth and bear it. If you can't bear to watch turn off the monitors and go for a walk or work on that project that is probably already behind schedule.
Last night I was telling my wife that the markets are in turmoil and we are 30% down from two years ago. She said oh well it doesn't matter if we lose everything because I have you.
