Not a bad idea.
I did same 20 + years ago and haven't looked back.
However, the game has changed with the Air B&B explosion.
I don't operate these days but lease out properties; but lessees are feeling the effect of the multitude of homes competing for the same market - even though the properties are aimed at the boutique couples only market.
My advice : thoroughly research the market; be selective in your location; and provide something unique;
