Wonder if it would be a viable option compared to a PDF in Malaysia, if condisoil approval is not forthcoming. Test results from the condisoil field trials would make a compelling case if Lynas were to submit an application to import WLP into Australia. Would basically be sending back to Australia the same amount of WLP as the concentrate being brought in to Malaysia. Although condisoil formula includes FGD which is required in much larger quantities. Maybe they could find a substitute in Australia.

Not ideal but might not have any other choice. Would certainly get the monkey of Lynas back.

Just a small note.
Yes - sure, Australia would not welcome back the 'waste'. But please keep in mind that, for example, mineral sands industry imports heavy mineral concentrates into the country that are about as 'radioactive' as Lynas stuff would be. Because it is not a 'waste', it is a 'useful material'.
So, in my unqualified opinion, the 'waste' is not to be brought back - but I do not see anything preventing the import of 'residue' that can be called an 'intermediate product' for the use in whatever - road construction, making up huge concrete boulders for the erosion protection, etc.
Just, so there is no 'sky is falling' here - please look at the waste management guideline from the WA department of mines and petroleum on this page:

Possible uses of 'NORM' residues are described in the appendix. If anyone has any questions on the waste mgmt guideline or any others - let me know, I wrote the whole lot there.
