9/11 was not the Islam world starting a fight with the west

it was in retaliation to the west in particular the US's constant interference and attempts to control ME countries over decades.

Some thing the US has learnt nothing.

But yes 9/11 was an act that the perpetrators had to be brought to account for. Which is way there was universal support for the US in taking action even within ME and Muslim countries.

And yes there would be still radical Muslims who would use the retaliation carried out for 9/11 as an excuse to carry out further attacks.

But this is vastly different to the massive ill feeling and support for those with more radical views that the invasion of Iraq on lies and bull has created

Which is why it was so important that an arsenal of WMDs poised to be used was found in Iraq after the invasion. This would have at least gone a long way yo legitimising the invasion.
