"The speculators will always be here in good stocks."

    I'm curious cujo, so light-heartedly I ask:
These "good stocks" you speak of, what is their defining feature?
    Also for future reference:
What is it specifically about their character that makes them 'good'?

When I first started trading shares a while ago, I was told unequivocally, there are only two types of stocks:
1/ Stocks that go up in price
    2/ Stocks that go down

But recently I've learnt that there are also stocks that trade sideways over a period [like CVN this past 90 mins] and now I find there are good stocks too?
    What next 'bad stocks'?

    What is a 'Sideways Trend'

A sideways trend is the horizontal price movement that occurs when the forces of supply and demand are nearly equal. This typically occurs during a period of consolidation before the price continues a prior trend or reverses into a new trend.
