"South African Smelter Refurbishment
In August 2016, the Company finalised an agreement with South African-based Transalloys Pty Limited (Transalloys) for the acquisition and relocation of two ferromanganese smelting furnaces. Under the terms of the agreement, Gulf purchased two furnaces (including related equipment), from Transalloys for the total cash consideration of US$1 million.
Gulf also agreed to supply Transalloys with up to 30,000tpa of high grade manganese ore for a period of three years (once export licenses have been granted) and as well as marketing rights for 60% of the production from these smelters for three years under commercial terms.
Post year end, the Company completed the final payment to Transalloys for the purchase of the first two smelters, with the refurbishment of these two smelters now underway in Pretoria, South Africa, prior to their shipment to Kupang."
