Our global position is still strong, that's true but i wonder if that's because we're successfully riding on the back of the resources wave. What happens when this sector ultimately crashes and burns? We as a country need to rely on other sources of economic growth, perhaps IT, science, bioscience, automotive, even agriculture. There is some truth in Moondoong's words in that we're shipping all our natural resources overseas but not creating a sustainable economy back here instead. I'm an Engineer by profession and unfortunately i see a huge influx of skilled migrants taking over the roles traditionally held by the local grads/workforce. I am no exception to the cause. My point is, whilst this may work in the short term, what will happen to Australia in the nest 10, 20 years? What current groundwork is being or has been laid to ensure that we remain a competitive global player in the next generation?
