Good post Ctindale, America has some serious problems that need to be addressed.

If you think about how America prospered in the last century it was first, exploiting natural resources then using that wealth and large population to take advantage of both world wars and to profit again from it's dominance of the western world. But now what will the US use? IT technology? There's a huge bill to pay soon.

Notice how America and Australia have a similar problem of a large % of aging population who REFUSES TO SAVE FOR THEIR RETIREMENT! Australian Socialist saw the problem and forced the dead-beats to save, now everyone has Super. America isn't so lucky .. no national scheme exists. Hard times ahead for people who expect someone else (ie government) to pay their retirement / medical

US debt can be turned around by a falling US $ and a better / leaner government policies .. that unfortunately means a lower welfare budget.
