While I enjoy a bit of tooing and froing with a couple of posters here what you have said is absolutely correct. If these plants don't make it into production the EV Revolution, as you say, will not go to the heights that many are expecting.
It is a fact Ni sulphude deposits in the world are in decline, while they have time left there has not been any major sulphide discoveries in decades to keep pace with the expected uptake of current demand and expected demand of the EV and Power Grid industries. A few of the very major deposits are slated for closure in the 2030's and the smaller deposits are gone before then.
Someone has to fill the gap and this largely in part will be the laterite deposits.
