Props are used to increase sentiment for buyers of the stock. Many people look at the depth top ascertain the level of interest.

People may be looking to increase sentiment either because they want to sell, or simply because they want the price to go up. It is counter-effective however with props when as soon as there is any downward pressure they are removed, as this creates a very negative view of the depth - a change from parity from buy to sell depth of about even to 1:2 soon after a small sell down can make others nervous and trigger further selling.

I think these ammatuer efforts at supporting the stock (and the ammatuer efforts at capping it) have had a deep negative impact overall.

It would be refreshing to see the naked demand for buys and sells for a change.

By the way Blarg - why if you think that CVI is a short term sell are you still holding? If there is one thing I've learned in the markets, you should follow your own sentiment.
