There are rumors ASX Ltd is in the process of buying Iress.com. I hope that don't stuff up our trading platforms like with the CommSec - Sanford takeover. Most likely we will have to pay more for Iress.
CommSec (or CBA) are in the process of starting up their own exchange in competition to the ASX. But it is only for the exchange of large amounts of shares. A US company is also about to do the same in Aus too. So ASX could become a bit piddly when that happens. The volume data in the asx data files will also be meaningless unless someone adds the other trades in too. If CommSec is anything to go by you can expect any CommSec exchange to fall over when things get busy.
Won't that really stuff things up for us! At least in the US different exchanges trade in different types of stocks. Not here! Not enough techs or bios to do that!
