I thought the following was an interesting read. I recall management informing us of the failed attempt at launching HIsmelt by RIO but missed the small part about it being resurrected by the Chinese, and now, years later they have a near commercial plant up and running.
There's the article:
http://www.steelvia.com/blog/2018/08/high-hopes-for-hismelt-technology-in-china/
Can someone please break this down for those of us not metallurgists, why is Matmor a better technology than HIsmelt and why would the company fail to talk about HIsmelt technology after RIO abandoned the project. It read as though the technology was not viable but this has proven to be far from the case.
I also wonder if management are a little embarrassed that Ashley will be presenting in late September without having financial close on the deal. Everything will still be "up in the air" and I feel the presentation would have had so much more clout if it looked like the Indians were actually excited by it.
