The record date in NZ is the 4th of April so I think that you are a week early on the ex-dividend date.

There may be a retracement of the share price by 5cps but these are fairly common occurrences these days. The established trend is firmly upwards.

There is too much happening with NZO/PRC for the NZO share price to sit quietly in a box for the next 100 days.

Another poster drew attention to NZO’s media junket to view the Kupe development today. The Momoho drill looks like a very clever option given that it is between Kupe South 4 & 5 which were both gas discoveries but on their own weren’t commercial. Now that the infrastructure is in place a lot more things become commercial, particularly if the gas is a little bit moist – as it usually is in the ‘naki.

The 5cps fully imputed dividend is a declaration that NZO has eliminated NZD60M of tax provisions in this financial year and has so much cash that they are able to pay the divvy despite spending millions developing Kupe and Pike River – no pain to them.

I view the divvy as being a vote of confidence by the directors that 5cps is not an issue in the company valuation, a declaration that there is more good news to come, AND a declaration of their confidence that they expect the share price to convert the options by June 30. They have never indicated anything to the contrary – in fact all the possible negatives to the share price since their last communication have turned out to be positives. Particularly the POO.
