Yes, that was my understanding also, unless one is "carrying on a business" as a share trader, in which case no CGT discount applies.
Of course this is not tax advice and everyone must DTOR, just thought that @Macklemore 's
comment was strange that's all - suggesting that the ATO would classify people differently if we were paid a dividend, resulting in CGT discount being applied.
I'll be claiming my CGT discount when I realise some gains some day, dividends or not, unless of course the tax rules change by then!
