NZ dairy effluent

I'll stick this in a new thread.

I got in touch with the former EMC a couple of years ago on this very topic as I thought it was an obvious problem for a MABR-based solution. The reply I got from Ross Kennedy was that dairy effluent is too concentrated.

So, ironically, it seems that you'd need to dilute the effluent with relatively clean water before you could treat it. But maybe that could be achieved by recirculating treated water back into fresh effluent? Dunno... but at the time Ross didn't see it as an opportunity.

I've also previously had a go at getting a local council here interested in using (the then) EMC's water treatment solutions for replacing a WWTP on the South Island west coast that was destroyed by a storm... however it later transpired that the process they went through to contract out the plant rebuild (6 million dollars plus, from memory) was dodgy and the contract was eventually given to ... a cake decorating company!

    I am not kidding: https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/90...firm-7-million-contract-to-build-sewage-plant

So at that point I became quite cynical and gave up on trying to open local government's eyes to anything. It's a shame because now with SUBRE there are WWTP plant upgrade opportunities all over NZ for FLC, which I firmly believe (putting aside my bias as a shareholder) offers the best solutions for what's needed.

Perhaps central gov't is a better target for lobbying. As I've said elsewhere, NZ now has a Labour/Green coalition gov't who are probably much more open to new and better ways of treating environmental problems than our previous gov't was. And then maybe they would in turn lean on local bodies to get with the times. However I'm not holding my breath, vested interests are very hard to put aside even if changing to a new option is clearly the better choice.
