    The idea about using Norwegian dams as energy storage made me wonder if you could use geothermal wells in a similar way. You could take excess grid power from off-peak or intermittent renewable sources, use it to superheat the water to even higher temperatures and pump it back down until it was needed to generate power. This ought to prolong the life of the well and lead to higher power output- or perhaps a way to recharge overproduced wells.

    Not sure if this is very efficient and perhaps a lot of heat would be lost to to dissipation. Just a random thought really though I know PTR have been looking at using solar thermal as a way of turbocharging the process - particularly useful if the water temperature doesn't quite make the grade.
