    Politicians will never curb immigration. It's the only thing propping up GDP and the housing market. Businesses will howl that the economy is being constrained by skills shortages and the threat of recession will rear its ugly head. Too many people will now have huge mortgages & will need a job in a growing economy to pay for them. People may want reduced immigration but the turkeys will never vote for xmas.

    On August 7 2018, Australian Bureau of Statistics population clock reached 25 million, with 62% of the growth in the last ten years being a result of immigration. The milestone was 33 years ahead of schedule. Senator Pauline Hanson has called for a national plebiscite asking voters if they think immigration is too high. Opinion polls show majority support for reduced immigration.[5][6][7][8]
