The war in Afghanistan definitely has everything to do with us (and everybody else for that matter) unless, of course, you live in an ivory tower or refuse to face reality.
I seem to recollect that, prior to WW11, many people believed that Germany was a peace loving nation and Hitler would bring 'Peace in Our Time'. How wrong were they and what a terrible price they paid for their naivety! From their reluctance to bear their share of the 'heavy load' in Afghanistan, a number of European nations have not learnt the hard lesson from the history of WW11.
