The Volkhardts section is in my belief the key here. The existence of a strong DHEM anomaly within the structure comes as no great surprise as the Lode mined abruptly terminated,no doubt due to a post -depositional faulting event. It must be remembered any Ore under 10% Copper at the time was not worth worrying about.
I must apologize for my lack of computer skills in pasting specific sections of information,if I may however cite a reference:
Experts Report: Clarence and Richmond Examiner 23rd June 1910.Available on the TROVE website.
The probable reason why there was no follow up on this structure was that during the years of 1910-14 other sections of the mine were opened, giving more readily available sources of high grade ore.As a consequence, the Volkhardts section was forgotten about.
If this line of mineralisation is again encountered, and I expect it will with the aid of modern technology, expect crazy numbers on the Copper content.
Also notable after reading reports posted during 1914 was that the assays of the Secondary Ore which could not be economically processed at the time was 4.8% Cu.In 1914 the company mining Cangai was in a loss making situation due to labour shortages and disputes at the time.
Later that year we have the advent of World War one.The rest is history as they say.
